Celebrating Happiness Day…which is coinciding with the first day of Spring.... How perfect is that? Somebody is thinking!
Joy brings lightness of being…kind of an ecstatic experience in varying degrees. I do find a lot of humor in life…especially towards how silly my mind can be!
It’s been proven that the endorphins that are released from the brain create euphoria or an experience of lightness and joy. These helpful hormones help us heal and strengthen our immune system as well as our mind & spirits!
There was a study done years ago by Norman Cousins, an American Journalist, author and world peace advocate, who chronicled his remarkable recovery from a severe and a life-threatening disease. He would watch the Marx Brothers, Candid Camera and be read excerpts from humor columnists in the newspaper for 2 hours/day. He said the key to his recovery was a powerful drug called laughter!
This is not to say that laughter will cure diseases, but it certainly will help plus make you feel better overall!
With all of the depression, grief and violence and harm to our planet that is in our lives…perhaps we can create some balance with laughter. What inspires you to smile & laugh?
Yesterday I was with my daughter and my 1 ½ year old grandson. On our walk, he was exploring and picking up sticks and rocks and being in the wonder of life. He had so much joy on his face. It was catchy…he made me feel so grateful for the simple joys of life.
I think about the magnificence of this planet and what I experience in nature. I also feel a deep sense of joy when I help nourish others and the planet through offering a gift from my heart….I feel so much joy & gratitude as my mission and message is being received and doing good in the world.
There are so many ways to experience joy. How do you experience joy? How can you bring joy into your life today as we are reminded on this day celebrating happiness and the newness of what pops up as Spring is sprung! So much wonder to behold and feel joyous and grateful for!
